Greytown Roles
Work with us at The Offering Greytown
The Offering Greytown is the heart of our business: a busy, welcoming café built around good food, genuine hospitality and people who care about doing their part well.
We believe the best guest experiences begin with the people behind them. That means creating a workplace where expectations are clear, standards are high, effort is noticed and everyone plays their part.
We follow the 49/51 philosophy, inspired by Danny Meyer. Skills, experience and technical ability matter, but attitude, self-awareness, kindness and the way you show up for others matter even more. We can teach systems and processes. What is harder to teach is care, curiosity, reliability and a genuine willingness to contribute to the team.
Working at The Offering can be fast-paced, especially during service, but it should never be driven by ego, shouting or cutting corners. We value calm communication, good preparation, personal responsibility and people who help those around them succeed.
Whether you are working with guests, preparing food, supporting the kitchen or helping keep the café flowing, every role contributes to how The Offering feels.
Front of House Team
Our Front of House team is responsible for creating the warm, relaxed and well-cared-for experience The Offering is known for.
This is more than taking orders and carrying plates. It is about welcoming people properly, noticing what guests need and making sure every visit feels easy and genuine.
The café can move quickly, so you will need to stay calm, organised and aware of what is happening around you. You may be greeting guests, taking orders, making coffee, running food, clearing tables, answering questions, helping with bookings or supporting the wider team wherever needed.
You may be a good fit if you:
- genuinely enjoy working with people
- communicate clearly and warmly
- stay composed when things get busy
- notice the small details
- take pride in presentation and service
- are reliable, organised and willing to help
- understand that hospitality is about how people feel
Previous café or hospitality experience is helpful, but attitude matters just as much. We are open to hearing from experienced front of house professionals as well as people who are keen to learn and have the right approach.
We will train you in our systems, service style, menus and standards, and support you as you grow in confidence and skill.

Food & Kitchen Team
Our Food & Kitchen team is what we think of as guest fulfilment: the people behind the scenes who turn care, preparation and good food into the experience our guests receive.
This is a broad, hands-on role that may include preparation, cooking, plating, cabinet production, baking, catering prep, cleaning, stock support and helping keep the kitchen organised and flowing throughout service.
The Offering kitchen is busy, practical and team-focused. We produce generous, flavour-driven food across breakfast, lunch, cabinet, catering, events and The Bakehouse, and we expect everything leaving the kitchen to be made and presented with care.
You may be a good fit if you:
- care about food and quality
- enjoy working at pace
- stay organised under pressure
- take pride in consistency and presentation
- understand the importance of cleanliness and preparation
- communicate clearly with the people around you
- are reliable, willing to learn and prepared to help where needed
- can take direction while also using initiative
Kitchen experience is important for some positions, but not every role requires the same level of technical skill. We are open to hearing from cooks, chefs, kitchen hands, food prep staff and capable people looking to build their experience.
Depending on your background, the role may involve working across different parts of the kitchen and supporting the wider operation. We will train you in our systems, recipes, service flow and standards, and help you develop within the role.
The hours and level of responsibility may vary depending on the right person.

What working here looks like
At The Offering, we expect people to take responsibility for their role while also understanding that no one works in isolation.
Good service relies on people communicating, preparing properly and backing one another when the pressure is on. That might mean stepping into a different task, helping another section catch up or noticing something that needs doing before being asked.
In return, we want this to be a workplace where:
- people are treated with respect
- expectations are clear
- effort and good work are recognised
- learning and growth are encouraged
- wellbeing matters
- people feel proud to be part of the team
We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for people who care, contribute and want to keep improving.
Hours and availability
Hospitality involves early starts, weekends, public holidays and busy seasonal periods. Availability will depend on the role, but flexibility is important.
When applying, please tell us:
